Overview

Under the direction of the Communications Manager, this position assists with Lone Star Circle of Care (LSCC) communications, marketing, media, and public relations, including with and to LSCC patients.  This position is developmental and will assume a wide variety of duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Marketing/Promotion/Media Relations:

 

  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, assists with development and implementation of LSCC’s marketing and communications strategy
  • Works with the Communications Manager to enhance LSCC’s public image and brand
  • Writes and disseminates press releases to media, as requested by and with Communications Manager approval
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, writes content for, manages, and updates information distributed on social media sites, and the LSCC website
  • Designs and edits basic graphics for electronic and print media
  • Works with the Communications Manager to capture photos of new providers and process them for social media platforms and website
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, plans, organizes, and delivers information to the public and designated audiences to promote the mission of LSCC and to ensure maximum use of clinic facilities and services
  • Assists the Communications Manager in planning, organizing, and executing LSCC and clinic sponsored events
  • Keeps abreast of news, national and local issues, and competitor actions that could affect LSCC’s marketing and brand; stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices
  • Assists the Communications Manager with responses to media inquiries and maintains relationships with journalists and other members of the press
  • Assists with the development and execution of marketing plans for existing and new clinic ventures
  • If requested by senior leadership, represents LSCC at external events and serves as an LSCC spokesperson
  • Assists the Communications Manager in managing LSCC’s outside marketing vendor
  • Assists with planning and executing the annual Texas Mamma Jamma Ride
  • Assists with meetings of the Keep It Movin’ Committee
  • Ensures that assigned projects are met and adheres to approved budgets
  • Assists the Communications Manager in monitoring analytics and creating reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies
  • All other duties as assigned and required

 

Communication (Internal/External):

 

  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, collaborates with internal and external partners, ensuring positive public relations and communications
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, creates and executes LSCC communications plans
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, assists in responding to crisis situations that require specialized public relations
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, writes and disseminates press releases to media
  • Assists with management of and updates to information distributed on social media sites, the LSCC website, the LSCC Intranet and the LSCC quarterly internal newsletter “The Circle of Care”.
  • Assists the Communications Manager in presenting during New Employee Orientation
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, serves and supports internal and external customers with communications and marketing needs
  • Under the direction of the Communications Manager, facilitates the development of patient communication materials

 

 Customer Resolution (Grievances):

 

  • Communicates with patients regarding complaints/grievances and coordinates with service lines, compliance, and legal, as needed, providing documented resolution
  • Logs all communications regarding grievances/complaints into identified tracking system

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or public health related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, social media or public health related field

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

 

  • Experience working with press and media relations
  • Experience in working with diverse populations
  • Previous writing or presentation experience
  • Prior healthcare and/or nonprofit experience
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast paced, ambiguous work environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience in creating and editing graphics and photos on platforms such as Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new computer programs efficiently
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are a definite plus
